Sennheiser HD 558
The Sennheiser HD 558s are impressive mid-range headphones.

Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO

The DT 990 PRO headphones are a set of over-ears from Beyerdynamic. The DT 990 PPROs are open-backed headphones, which literally means the back of the ear cups aren't totally covered with plastic. Open-back headphones make your playback to sound like you have a set of free-standing speakers right by your head, rather than echoing out at you from an enclosed space. Of course, the downside to this airy audio quality is you'll be able to hear everything happening around you and everyone around you will hear your music. Therefore, the DT 990 PROs should really only be used indoors. They're comfortable, have a long cord, and also come with a 1/4-inch adapter, all of which make the DT 990 PROs a great set of at-home headphones.

Sennheiser HD 800

We finally got in the Sennheiser HD 800s. So what's our verdict? They're amazing. Really. They're one of the best pairs of headphones we've reviewed.

d The one sticking point, however, is their $1400 price tag. Check out our test results and graphs and whatnot; hopefully they'll help you decide if an investment in the HD 800s is an investment in your aural future.

Sennheiser CX 680i
The Sennheiser CX 680i in-ear headphones are a decent set of lower-mid-range headphones with a remote & mic. They don't have the best quality and they're not quite as rugged as we would've expected from a set of in-ears aimed at the gym crew, but they're a great value at $100.

Sennheiser IE 8i
With eight different sets of sleeves and optional ear-loops, it's not hard to see that Sennheiser really tries to make the listening experience a comfortable one.

$599.95
Etymotic Research mc5

The Etymotic Research mc5 headphones are an entry level set of in-ears. At $80, the mc5s offer a disproportionately high audio quality for their price. If you’re looking for a decent set of in-ears without spending over $100, the mc5s are a great choice.

Sennheiser MM80i
The Sennheiser MM80is have decent audio quality, and aren't a bad pickup if you're willing to spend for them.

Monster Beats Pro
The Monster Beats Pros are a set of higher-end closed-backed over-ear headphones with a very rugged build and high amount of flair, but with an unreasonably high bass response.

V-Moda Remix Remote
As far as entry-level in-ear headphones go, the $79.99 pricetag is about par for the course, but you do get good value for it. That being said, fans for more analytical headphones with flat bass response and a less dynamic response will probably recoil in horror at the heavily-emphasized low frequencies

The Denon AH-D5000s are a great, if pricy, pickup.

AKG K701
With a great frequency response, extremely comfortable wear and open soundstage, these are a good entry to mid-level pickup for those who are fans of an analytical sound.

Audio-Technica ATH-AD900
The Audio Technica ATH-AD900s are decent performers, and they are certainly comfortable. While they offer superior comfort and good audio quality, be aware that these are cans that stay by the computer.
