Yesterday, headphones struck again, this time in the form of a slow-moving MetroLink train. As a Missouri woman darted through a train crossing to catch her eastbound train, her headphones -- better known as "the Devil's earmuffs" -- prevented her from hearing the whistle of an approaching westbound train. Fortunately for her, the train driver was approaching the crossing slowly and hit the emergency break as soon as he saw her (it is assumed he was not under the influence of headphones at the time). The train was going an estimated 20 miles/hour when she was hit. After the impact, the woman was dragged for 20 feet under the train, but luckily managed to escape with minor cuts, bruises, and a few broken bones.

New headphone threat: the inability for your peripheral vision to register gigantic, slow-moving objects.
