Conclusion
The Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7 headphones aren't great headphones. They are slightly better than average headphones with the price of actually average headphones. As mentioned earlier in the review, the ATH-ANC7s are actually a great pair of entry-level active noise cancelling headphones. They're not great, but they are surprisingly inexpensive for active cancellers. Typically there's an "active cancellation tax" since the feature is currently a trendy buzzword, but the ATH-ANC7s are miraculously unaffected by it.

We liked the ATH-ANC7s for what they were. At $100, you could find better full-size headphones or in-ears, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a pair of active noise cancellers. If you want to try out the technology for a spell, or you want to block out sound without blocking up your ear canal, these are a great choice.

Audiophile

The ATH-ANC7s don't have the best audio quality. Typically, however, no audiophile would want a pair of active noise cancelling headphones: the feature adds too much junk to your playback.

Portable User

In-ears are portable. Although this is a portable set of over-ears, it still can't compete. If you hate in-ears, however, then this might be a solid option.

Airplane Traveler

These headphones have a long battery life, come with a case that will fit in your carry-on, and are comfortable. Even though they don't have the best active cancellation, they will let you block out more sound than the average set of headphones.

Home Theater User

These headphones don't have good enough audio quality, their cord is too short, and they have closed backs. All of these features combine to make them a poor choice for use with your home audio system.
