Introduction Introduction
The iPhone 3G S has come out, as you may or may not be aware. This device is lovely and wonderful, but ultimately falls outside the jurisdiction of HeadphoneInfo.com... or does it!?

In a shameless attempt to capitalize off a popular gadget, we've decided to review the headphones that come packaged in with the iPhone 3G S. Our official stance on the matter: it's important to have a good baseline to compare other headphones to.

So, how did these things do? Surprisingly well on some tests and laughably poorly on others. While there are definitely some deal breakers involved, the iPhone 3G S headphones aren't entirely terrible. We doubt any audiophiles will put up with them, but they're not so bad mainstream listeners will immediately replace them.

Section The Good The Bad
Tour & Design Tour & Design • They say "I own an Apple device." Also, they're slightly more durable than the last model. • They say "I own an Apple device." Also, despite what it says to the left, they still aren't really durable.
Sound Quality Sound Quality • The frequency response and tracking results weren't bad. • The distortion test results were very, very bad.
Isolation Isolation • They're capable of a loud output without the sound turning into complete garbage.

• Their isolation capabilities are on par with "not having anything in or around your ears."
Tour & Design Comfort • They're likely a good bet for people that typically don't like in-ears. • For people who are used to canal in-ears, these things will constantly feel like they're about to fall out.
Tour & Design Usability • Portable. • Not easy to maintain at all.
Tour & Design Conclusion • You didn't technically pay for them, and they're really not terrible considering this. • They're still not very good, and they have a ton of negative subjective qualities that will likely push you to replace them.
